One question that we are often asked in our Tasting Room is what foods should be paired with each of our wines?
Our best advice is always to drink what you like, no matter what you’re eating, and eat what you like, no matter what you’re drinking. Your opinion is ultimately what counts when it comes to pairing your glass with your plate; however, we do have a few suggested pairings that we have discovered work well together.
While most people know the tried-and-true advice of drinking white wines with chicken and seafood and red wines with beef and pork, with muscadine and other fruit wines you can bend the rules a bit, thanks to the unique flavors and sweetness of these wines.
Strawberry season may be far behind us, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the sweet taste of Paulk Vineyards strawberries!
Satilla Road, our sweet strawberry wine, is like a yummy strawberry preserve pastry in a wine glass. It feels soft and round in your mouth, without being overly sweet. One sip will have you picturing yourself picking fresh strawberries in our field on – you guessed it – Satilla Road! The flavor of a strawberry pastry in a glass makes our sweet strawberry wine a nice pairing with desserts, particularly chocolate or pound cake with whipped cream, nuts, creamy cheeses like Brie, grilled chicken, and salads.
As you can see in these photos, Satilla Road made the perfect summer addition to one Paulk Vineyards’ connoisseur’s family dinner.
“I had my husband’s family over for dinner and served Satilla Road with our meal. It paired nicely with a tossed garden salad with grilled chicken, fruit, and feta. We later had brownies and another glass for dessert!” Yummy!
