When the weather starts to warm up and feel like summertime, folks start to celebrate with backyard barbecues, porch parties, and trips to the lake or beach. Everyone seems ready to relax and kick back a little in the evenings and on weekends.
And, what better way to do that than with a pitcher of sangria?
People seem a bit intimidated by making sangria, but it’s actually fairly simple to put together. A traditional recipe combines red wine, brandy, and fruit, with juice, soda, or simple syrup to sweeten it up. The fun thing about making sangria is experimenting with different combinations to find one you enjoy! A quick search on Pinterest shows there are lots of variations out there!
Years ago, we created a basic Paulk Vineyards Southern Sangria recipe, which includes 1 bottle of your choice of red or white muscadine wine, 1 bottle of purple or white muscadine juice, plus 1 liter of club soda or ginger ale. If you like your sangria sweeter, use a sweeter wine and/or ginger ale; if you don’t like it as sweet, use a drier wine and/or club soda. Add the fruits of your choice, but we usually prefer orange, lemon, and lime slices in red sangrias, and peaches, nectarines, and berries in white sangrias.
Lately, we have enjoyed creating some delicious sangria recipes that we hope you will love as much as we do.
The best part? All of them involve our delicious, award-winning Paulk Vineyards wine.
For this Holiday weekend, we’re celebrating with Very Berry Sangria which uses all three of our berry wines: Satilla Road Strawberry, County Line Road Blackberry, and Highway 32 Blueberry.
